Comunque,
DEFT è una distribuzione live linux, creata da Stefano Fratepietro, atta sopratutto per usi legati alla Computer Forensics e un po’ meno alla sicurezza informatica.
Dal sito ufficiale:

DEFT is a new concept of Computer Forensic live system that uses LXDE as desktop environment and thunar file manager and mount manager as tool for device management. It is a very easy to use system that includes an excellent hardware detection and the best free and open source applications dedicated to incident response and computer forensics.

In deft sono inclusi tools per la Network Forensic, come (dei quali ho già ampiamente parlato):

-Xplico, network forensic analysis tool
-Wireshark, network protocol analyzer
-Nmap, security scanner
-Ettercap, suite per eseguire attacchi con metodologia «man in the middle»

Software come Ophcrack e John the Ripper per il crack delle password.
Tools per l’individuazione e l’analisi di malware e virus come Clam antivirus, Rkhunter e Chkrootkit.
Oltre a tutto ciò, la distribuzione integra numerose altre utility che aiutano l’analista durante l’attività investigativa e a documentare le perizie.
DEFT può essere usata per recovery dei dati, scansione del disco, backup, etc…
