[How-To]Ossec:Intrusion Detection

OSSEC is one of HIDS (Host-based intrusion detection system) the most famous.

The main characteristics of OSSEC are:

    • rootkit detection
    • file system integrity
    • log file analysis
    • time based alerting
    • active responses

      OSSEC allows to detect intrusions or intrusion attempts,suspicious changes to system files and rootkits on the system itself.

      From the official website:

      OSSEC is an Open Source Host-based Intrusion Detection System. It performs log analysis, file integrity checking, policy monitoring, rootkit detection, real-time alerting and active response.

      Let's see how to install and configure it on a normal Ubuntu without firewall, Installation of a freshly made ;)

      Windows: spegnere il pc da "remoto"

      If you want to shut down a pc Windwos, maybe you find that is in another floor or in another room or maybe you are confronted with the need to reboot the server remotely, or do shit in school as long as you follow this guide.

      Inanzi you need to know the share name of the remote pc,your username and password.

      Velocizzare l'Hard-Disk su WINDOWS 7

      I recently installed windows 7 to use a couple of applications that do not exist for ubuntu.

      Yeah that taper, I did some research to figure out how to speed up new windows ;)

      The first optimization I did, was to enable the disk cache.
      This operation is a bit’ dangerous, in the sense that if your PC is turned off “male” , will be more difficult to recover lost data.

      Enabling the cache to disk, abiliteremo is an option to increase theperformance of the Hard Disk and and consequently, of our WINDOWS Seven.

      Let us now, how to enable this option.
